The 2025 Policy Platform sets out Better Transport Queensland’s strategic vision for a safer, more accessible, and better-integrated transport system across the state. It outlines key priorities for public, active, and freight transport in Queensland. The document is grounded in evidence and shaped by community input. It is designed to guide BTQ’s advocacy, inform decision-makers, and empower members to champion change in their local areas.
Policy Platform Highlights:
- More frequent trains all day on the Springfield, Shorncliffe and Kippa Ring lines
- More frequent buses – about 20 new high-frequency buses for Brisbane, and services for other SEQ LGAs
- Establishing a Queensland Public Transport Authority
- Brisbane Airtrain to be incorporated into the Translink network
- Public transport quality of supply indicators (to replace failed transport mode share targeting)
- Further investment in the Veloway and Cycleway network
- And many others!
How the Policy Platform Was Created
The 2025 Policy Platform was shaped through a collaborative, community-led process. Initial ideas were gathered and prioritised during a member workshop, then refined through several drafting rounds to ensure clarity and alignment with Better Transport Queensland’s values. The final version was endorsed by the broader membership, reflecting a shared commitment to evidence-based, grassroots advocacy
Understanding Priority Levels
Each item in the Policy Platform is designated as either a high-priority or a priority to help guide action and resource allocation. High-priority items are those that require immediate attention and implementation due to their urgency, impact, or readiness. These are the initiatives we believe should be pursued without delay. Priority items, while still important, are goals we aim to work towards over the next five years.
